Red Dead Redemption 2
I bought Red Dead 2 thinking it would be fun but never expected to complete it. I played Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption before and enjoyed them but never completed them. Just lost interest as I do if a game doesn’t thrill me. Neither were bad games just the stories did not keep me involved in their worlds. Red Dead Redemption 2 started slow and plodding. I just got off completing Assassin’s Creed Origins and that game I loved. Comparing the two was going to happen and at first, I found Red Dead lacking in departments Assassin’s Creed did so well. The horse travel was tedious and the horse was a moron who ran into trees. This makes for some funny horse deaths and awkward moments but what the fuck is wrong with these horses?? But after spending a shit ton of hours riding you do get a more competent horse. The world in RR2 is alive and feels a living breathing thing. Many games have this to some extent but RR2 delivers the first one that feels you just a part in this world, not the world waiting for you to show up to interact with. People have routines and are busy. Animals are hunting shit and it all feels organic.

The story of Arthur Morgan is some of the best game writing I have experienced. Tragic and realistic as you always feel empathy for Arthur and as the story goes on you get a real connection or at least I did. The side characters all have their moments and it gave them all a supporting cast feel that was meaningful.
The graphics are stunning and the outdoor world is amazing in scope and realism. The music is fitting and the game ran smoothly on my regular ps4.
I completed the whole story and most the side quests and have some challenging stuff and some hunting yet to do. All in all, I have about 100 hours in this game and highly recommend it. I played no online but many are enjoying that side of the game as well.
