Mass Effect Andromeda emerged in 2017 and did not take the world by storm. It was broken, buggy, and a technical mess, destroying faith in Bioware for many gamers. I bought it later because I am a fan of Mass Effect and space games in general and decided to give it a go some 7 years later.

Andromeda took Mass Effect in a new direction and out of the Milky Way to start a new civilization in a new galaxy. You play as the pathfinder, one whose purpose is to find a suitable batch of planets to settle your colony as you have thousands of people now needing a home after a 600-year journey in stasis. Things happen, some Arks are missing and the planets are far from ready so you and your team have your work cut out.

The weapons and powers are fun and the best in the series. You get a lot of new guns and armor and can upgrade as usual in a game like this. You have a rover to move across different planets and most have harsh conditions and alien lifeforms to battle as you are trying to colonize and prepare thousands to exit Arks and start new on these new worlds.

There is a lot of discovery and exploration, and it may be different from Mass Effect 1-3 but it holds its own as a new branch of Mass Effect. It is too bad people are so closed-minded and only want the same stuff repeatedly. I am not excusing the technical issues but we have that now in Star Wars Jedi Survivor as well. Give it time and let the games be patched and by waiting you get a better game and usually cheaper.

This game has everything a Star Trek and Star Wars fan will enjoy. I loved Mass Effect and I am pleased I gave this game a shot. You might be surprised as there is a good game here now.
