Fallout 4

I love my Fallout games and returned to Fallout 4 to clean up a lot of missed quests and visit one of my favorite games. The world is huge, destroyed, and full of nasty mutated creatures.

Fallout is a post-apocalyptic where a company named Valt Tec built vaults to save humanity. Is there more to Valt-Tec…all I can say is never trust a corporation to have your best interests at heart! Fallout 4 has a great story, a huge world, and tons of weapons and armor to find. Huge communities to help or wipe off the world. The show has brought people back to these games and the next-gen updates have made the visuals much sharper, added widescreen support, and other fixes to a 9-year-old game. When Fallout 4 first arrived in 2016, it was when Witcher 3 came out and I think people were harder on the new Fallout than deserved. Going back in now I feel the game is being more fairly judged and with the update, it is even better.

You can customize your character in many ways and there are many skills to master and experiment with. Joining factions, building bases, and improving the lives of your settlements are all in this game. These games are charming as the exploration and discovery are half the fun. I also have to say I love VATS and another reason I had issues with Fallout 76. Finding power armor, discovering hidden Vaults, and what treasures they may hold is a joy.

I have over 200 hours on my PS4 game and now moved it to the PS5 with no issues. The game runs much better, is locked at 60fps, and has sharper visuals. The save moved flawlessly but trophies started all over, which was a bummer as I was closing in on the platinum trophy. The audio in this game is good. I love the music or hearing a mutant mumbling that he heard something as I sneak into his camp.

I also started a PC run-through and it has unlocked fps and looks fantastic. It does suffer from some longer load times when loading from buildings. I don’t know why as it is on a fast SSD but a minor gripe. The visuals seem a little more crisp on the PC but running on a 3600ti/i7 setup. I locked the framerate to 100 as above that the lipsynch is off.

The expansions to Fallout 4 are good with Nuka-World and Far Habor being my favorites. This game is excellent and I can not wait for the next Fallout game. If you have yet to see the Amazon show then watch it. It has created the Fallout Game Worlds perfectly.
