Suckerpunch, the development team behind Ghost of Tsushima and Infamous, has done it again! They made a game that has a engrossing story, solid and fun gameplay and a beautiful world and knocked it out of the park!
You play as Jin Sakai, a man torn between being a loyal Samurai following under his Uncle’s, teachings and strict ways and having to go beyond that to defeat the Moguls who are terrorizing and taking over the land. Jin’s journey takes him all over the island of Tsushima and the story is based on the true tale of the Mogul invasion that took place in 1274, although the plot and story is fiction. The island is full of quests and banners to collect, plants to horde, weapons to find and upgrade. You are guided by the wind instead of a map or mini map and this feature is amazing. It works so well and should be in more games. The art in this game and details are what stand out and they voice acting can be in Japanese or English with sub-titles.
The combat is not souls-like but dynamic and similar to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You have skills to unlock and you can challenge characters to duels and it is a clever and precise system that once you get the hang of it really just works.
The animals of the world can also give you hints when you are near something to collect and lead you to shrines to bless you with gifts and boosts. There are also some fun environmental puzzles that I found not tedious and really enjoyed completing.
The land is pretty large and the game is an open world game where you can go where you want and explore. There is clothing that removes more of the fog of war for traveling but even then the world takes a while to see it all and complete the areas.
I would say this is one of those games that should not be missed. It is superb in its execution and I had no bugs that I discovered and I completed the game. I played this on a ps4 not the pro or ps5. I can only imagine the visuals on the ps5 and recommend this game to any who like a well written story and fun land to explore with plenty of battles to win. There is also a multiplayer aspect that is popular and they continue to add to the content of this game with a new Island in the newest dlc. I highly recommend this game to any Playstation owner and hope it comes to pc so more can experience this game.
Buy this game pronto!!!!!! Another reason I love my Playstation as these gems make it an easy choice.
