A new take on the Yakuza series as the game resembles a RPG now not an action beat-em-up game and I think it is a better design. The game follows Ichiban Kasuga from his hitting bottom to his rise with the help of his friends. It is a party based game with different jobs and stats for each job. You have multiple skills to defeat enemies depending on who you are up against. I found most the fights fairly easy until chapter 12. At that point I had to grind a while to improve to continue the story.
Yakuza games all have lots of mini games and I found the games in this game excellent. The building your empire is by far the best and a must to earn millions of yen fast which you will need in the later game. There is black jack, poker, cart racing, batting cages, golf and all are pretty well done.
Ishiban’s friends all have interesting personalities and the best part of these games is the humor involved. The world is the highest resolution Yakuza game and it is pretty impressive on the pc. Some of the later boss battles you have to be a little more careful and manage your team better but none were Dark Souls tough.
The game is pretty long as I hit about 80 hrs to complete it. There is NG plus after if you want to continue but honestly I had my fill although I really enjoyed the journey. Highly recommend the game for its gameplay, story and cast of fun characters.
This is a great game and anyone who enjoys a combat heavy RPG is going to dig this game. I have always admired Yakuza games but never stuck to one until this one. Highly recommended and on gamepass to boot!!!!
