I completed RE 7 and enjoyed it and thought it was a great time to fire up VIllage and give it a whirl while on a RE kick! I am sure glad I did because this one is superior, gorgeous, and a thrill! Not taking away from VII but this one I get the feeling they were allowed to go all in and make a truly great game.
You continue your journey as Ethan Winters, fighting to save your daughter Rose. This time we deal with many forms of bioweapons that are werewolves and pretty damn nasty.
Ethan gets some great weapons and upgrades in this game. I felt more powerful than in the last game. The story is compelling and you understand Ethan’s motives. The bosses in the game are interesting, fleshed out and all have great independent identities. I enjoyed those encounters and taking them down felt satisfying. The lesser creatures were a good challenge but not overly difficult and some mini-bosses brought the tension up so it was not a cakewalk.
The environments in the game seem a step forward from RE 7 and that was no slouch. The game ran smoothly on my aging PC with a Nividia 1070 card. The scope of the base game is about 15 – 20 hours and they are adding DLC to the game. If you like horror games and a good story I do recommend this game! One of the stand-out games in 2021 as Capcom hits with another outstanding title. This game is out for PS4, PS5, Xbox, Stadia, and PC.
