Shin Megami Tensei V comes from the team behind Persona and the two games are similar in some respects. But in this game, you are in a battle between gods and demons and you can gain the powers of both to conquer and become a god/demon yourself.
The game’s story is exciting and you are brought into a world that is what is going on behind the scenes and what most normal humans never see. You grind and grow stronger in typical RPG fashion but you also gather demons, create and morph them and absorb their powers yourself. You have three demons/godlings with you at any time and you can switch out them as needed depending on what you are fighting.
The game world is pretty large and you have fast travel and save points in the world. There are collectibles and sidequests and lots of battles. Boss battles can be tough and it is best to see what their strengths and weaknesses are so you can adjust your party and your powers to maximize your chances for survival.
The game does take some time to grind through as in the later game you need to be around level 70+ to take out the big bosses. I have about 80 hours in the game over a few months of on and off playing.
