Final Fantasy IV (DS)

I have been a fan of Final Fantasy for many years but have only finished a few of them. I have heard the pixel remasters are excellent but I remembered I do have 2 versions on my dsi and could try to finish those.

The DS versions have some excellent quality-of-life additions, save when you need to before powering off, auto-battle, and some other nice touch-ups. It is also very good looking and I forgot how much I really like the DS in general. The DS version has some other additions as well. You can save at any point just remember it is gone after you reload. Saving normally is needed if you forget as the quick save is only in memory until reloaded.

The game is pretty linear and not overly complicated. It has a very good story and progresses at a good pace. There is not a massive amount of grinding necessary to beat the bosses. I found the game fairly easy but I was ok with that. It might be a balance change made in this remake to make it more accessible but never playing the original that is a guess.

The End game has some nasty monsters, but if you do some side quests you get enough levels and powers to summon some great help in the tough battles. I worked on this game a little every day for a couple weeks and completed it totally satisfied.

This is a great version of a great game.
