I know I am late to the party, but I finally dug into this game that has been calling me for over a year. I did love the last Zelda and most of the previous games; this one is a masterpiece game.
This game’s mechanics are awesome as you can build many cool things to complete objectives. You always feel competent and the puzzles are not frustrating or difficult yet you still get that dopamine rush when you figure them out.

You have a huge map again with a new story. More building mechanics this time, a sky area, an underground area, caves, shrines, camps to conquer, stables, and stores. You have four main dungeons, as usual in Zelda games. All have unique needed companions to complete and once completed you keep the companion avatars to help you on your journey.

Even though the Switch hardware is ancient, the game shines. It is well-optimized and impressive, although I wonder what the game would look like on more modern hardware. The building aspect is fairly easy to understand and many spend a lot of time making impressive things. I just stick to what I need to progress the story. But the freedom to build and manipulate is awesome. There is an ability now to ascend through objects and it makes the verticality very easy and is used in dungeons and works well.

You also can merge an item on your equipment that adds stats or new abilities. Making do more damage or adding fire or ice, etc.
There is a good story and a good cast of characters to keep it all moving forward. Everyone who wants to get lost in a simple and fun game should pick this one up.

I can not wait to see what we get with the Switch 2 !
