I have owned this game for years and decided it was time to get to it. Ni No Kuni is a beautiful, old-school RPG. It has a large world, plenty to explore, and a good story. Level 5 developed it, and Studio Ghibli did the animation. It has beautiful music as well, and it deserves more recognition.

You are a boy trying to save his mom. He goes on a journey through dimensions to become a powerful wizard. He gets help from different creatures he captures to fight with him. It is similar to Pokemon and is fun to find what they can morph into. They each have different abilities strengths and weaknesses. You also get a couple companions who bring their help, and it is a fun, turn-based battle system. Being an older RPG formula there is plenty of grinding to overcome bosses.

If the game was a little less a grind and more condensed, I believe it would it would of been more popular. It has a following and they made a sequel, but I think it could of been a masterpiece with some more work.

I quit at the main boss after it morphed 3 times. I simply had enough but I did enjoy it. There are just too many excellent games to get to.
