Until Dawn a game that came out in Aug of 2015 from the dev team Supermassive and recreates that great teen slasher feel in a video game. Originally a ps3 move game it was reworked for the ps4. There is some gore, adult language and sexual themes so the game is rated M for mature audiences. Campy but in a good way, you are with a group of eight teen friends all up on a mountain for a meet up and to revisit a site where a terrible tragedy took place. Each teen has different personality traits and you feel empthay for some and disdane for other. The story has branching choices that will determine the outcome of these teens in a clever way. You have your typical jump scares, ambient spooky sounds, quick time events and good voice acting. The visuals in the game are high quality and the atmosphere is set up perfectly to set the mood of a b movie horror flick. The branching paths also mean you need a few play throughs to see all there is in this game.

On the negative side I found the camera was a little awkward as I am so used to controlling the camera with the left stick. In this game the flashlight is controlled with the left stick so sometimes my character would have to bump into walls to find that there is no corridor there because of my limited view. It did not ruin the experience but made it feel more akin to the old 3rd person games from years ago. This might of been from the original design on the ps3 which I heard was going to be a ps move game before being reworked for the ps4.
The game took me about 9 hours to complete a play through and is designed to go through it a few times to perfect the trials and save these teens until dawn arrives. On my next play-through I will try to save more of these teens. It gives you a reason to play it a couple of times to see if you can save the entire cast.
You get hints by searching for collectibles, clues and totems which give you some idea as to what is coming and maybe aviod certain death . It is wise to search an area completly as any help you can get is greatly appreciated.

A game like this is perfect for Halloween. Turn down the lights, put headphones on and enjoy the horror the way it was intended. I hope they are working on Until Dawn 2. I do love my horror flicks and scary games !!
