I have sunk over 300 hours in this game and still have things I have not even come close to mastering. The game hits a sweet spot in my tastes with the grind for better armor and weapons, cool monsters to hunt that evolve, and get harder and harder as you progress and a mastery that really makes you feel accomplished once you get the handle of the mechanics of your weapon.

Each weapon has a different use and different combos, stats, perks, and effects. Some are slow and hard-hitting giving you a slower pace and others are fast and rely on combos and quick in and out battles. I prefer the Charged Blade and have enjoyed that throughout this game. The game has a story and is a linear progression until you complete the story. After that, you continue to improve and farm harder monsters as it has a great way of never really ending if you enjoy the pursuit. The Iceborne expansion added a land about as big as the base game and a slew of new monsters and some new mechanics. It also adds a new story and expands on every aspect of the base game.

I was worried I would not get back into it after months away but it all came back and I believe I enjoyed the expansion even more than the base game. I can not recommend this game enough.

I have played MH4 for 150 hours previously and recently picked up the Switch version of Generations Ultimate and will work on that soon. The graphical upgrades and benefits outweigh the older handheld games. I just can not wait to see what the next game is.
